With 20 years of heart success behind Heart Care International, the organization celebrated during a summer reception which honored two of the 1000 lives saved by the veteran organization. Claudia Tujab and James Sweeney were on hand to reinforce the impact that this small but 'mighty' organization has achieved in it's two decade history. Both born in Guatemala, Claudia and James were children suffering from potentially fatal heart birth defects in 1995 and 1996, and their native country did not have the medical expertise to perform the delicate life-saving surgery that was required. Fortunately for these children, this coincided with the 2nd and 3rd year that Heart Care International was conducting heart care missions to Guatemala to help save lives and train local medical professionals to care for these types of children.
