A Heart To Heart With One of Heart Care's First Patients

Monday, August 4, 2014

Greenwich Times reporter, Anne W. Semmes, sat down with Claudia Maria Sarai Tujab to reflect on the impact that Heart Care International had on her life and that of her family. Born with a hole in her heart in a small town in central Guatemala in 1989, Claudia's life expectancy was only a few years because there were no heart care resources available in her country at that time. But when Heart Care International came to Guatemala in 1995 and operated on Claudia (and 15 other children), Claudia life changed forever. Now 25, and the picture of health, she wears a radiant smile and was invited to join Heart Care International in the 20th anniversary celebration of providing life-saving heart procedures to children in under-developed countries.
